1. Controller and contact details
This Privacy Policy explains how Silver Skills collects, uses, stores, shares and protects personal data when operating the Silver Skills website and platform at www.silver-skill.com or any replacement domain.
For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the Data Protection Act 2018 and applicable Irish data-protection law, Silver Skills is the controller of personal data processed for the operation, administration, safety and moderation of the platform, unless otherwise stated.
Privacy enquiries and data-subject requests may be sent to info@silver-skill.com. Users should include enough information for Silver Skills to identify the relevant account, connection, report or request.
2. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to website visitors, Customers, Skilled Member applicants, approved Skilled Members, people who contact Silver Skills, people who submit reports, and anyone whose personal data is processed in connection with the platform.
This policy does not apply to independent arrangements made directly between Customers and Skilled Members outside the platform, except where information from those arrangements is entered into the platform, such as agreed job terms, reports or messages.
3. Categories of personal data
Account data may include name, display name, email address, password hash, role, account status, login activity, verification status and communication preferences.
Customer data may include legal name, display name, phone number, email address, service area, address or job access details shared in a connection room, connection requests, messages, payment-fee records, reports, evidence and support communications.
Skilled Member data may include display name, profile photo, service area, public bio, experience, work categories, availability, ratings, reviews, legal name, address, postal code, date of birth, phone number, email address, identity document, proof of address, verification notes, admin decisions and report history.
Technical and security data may include IP address, approximate country or region signals, device and browser information, timestamps, audit logs, spam-protection signals, captcha/Turnstile results, error logs and security events.
Payment data for the Platform Connection Fee may include payment status, fee tier, selected currency, transaction references, chargeback or dispute status and limited payment-method references. Silver Skills does not process payment for the actual job.
4. Purposes of processing
Silver Skills processes personal data to operate the website, create and manage accounts, authenticate users, review Skilled Member applications, verify identity and address information, publish approved public profiles, enable Customers to send connection requests, open connection rooms, support messages, record agreed terms, administer Platform Connection Fees, send service emails, prevent spam, review reports, enforce platform rules, handle disputes and maintain platform safety.
Silver Skills may use approximate country, browser language or similar technical signals to suggest a regional currency for Platform Connection Fees. Users can change the selected currency before sending a connection request.
Silver Skills may also process data for accounting, tax, legal, fraud-prevention, security, service-improvement, customer-support, policy-compliance and record-keeping purposes.
5. Legal bases for processing
Contract: Silver Skills processes account, request, connection-room, Platform Connection Fee and service communication data where necessary to provide the platform service requested by the user.
Legitimate interests: Silver Skills processes verification, moderation, safety, fraud-prevention, report, audit, security and platform-quality data where necessary for legitimate interests, provided those interests are not overridden by the rights and freedoms of the relevant person.
Legal obligation: Silver Skills may process and retain records where necessary to comply with legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, consumer-law, data-protection, law-enforcement or court obligations.
Consent: Where Silver Skills introduces optional marketing, non-essential cookies or other optional processing that requires consent, consent will be requested separately and may be withdrawn where applicable.
6. Skilled Member verification documents
Silver Skills asks Skilled Member applicants for identity and address documents to help confirm that public profiles belong to real, contactable and reviewable people, to support customer trust and to reduce platform misuse.
Verification documents are used for Silver Skills admin review only. They are not shown to Customers, are not published on profiles, are not displayed on maps and are not shared with other users.
Silver Skills normally retains verification documents for three months after review and then deletes them, unless a legal, safety, fraud, chargeback, report, regulatory or dispute reason requires a longer retention period.
7. Public profile information
Approved Skilled Member public profiles may display a profile photo, display name, service area, approximate map marker, public bio, experience summary, availability, work categories, ratings, reviews and verified status.
Silver Skills does not display a Skilled Member's exact home address, private postal code, full date of birth, legal-name verification record, phone number, email address, identity document or proof of address on public pages.
Approximate map markers are intended to show service areas, not exact residences.
8. Connection rooms, messages and reports
Connection room information may be visible to the Customer, the Skilled Member and Silver Skills administrators. This may include messages, job scope, date, time, agreed price, payment method, address/access details and acceptance records.
Silver Skills may access and use connection room records to provide support, review reports, protect user safety, enforce the Terms, investigate misuse, manage chargebacks or disputes and comply with legal obligations.
Reports may include written explanations, evidence, message references, account details, connection records and admin notes. Report information may be used to decide whether account action, review moderation, restriction, suspension or removal is appropriate.
9. Sharing and processors
Silver Skills may share personal data with service providers who support hosting, database storage, email delivery, spam protection, payment processing for Platform Connection Fees, analytics, security, backups and customer support. These providers should process data only for Silver Skills purposes and under appropriate contractual controls.
Silver Skills may share information where required by law, court order, law-enforcement request, regulator request, payment dispute, chargeback process, professional adviser request or where necessary to protect the rights, safety and property of Silver Skills, users or others.
Users in a connection room may see each other's information where necessary for the connection and job arrangement. Users must not misuse or publicly disclose private information obtained through the platform.
10. International transfers
Some technology providers may process data outside Ireland or the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, Silver Skills should use appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms where required by data-protection law.
11. Retention periods
Account records are retained while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards where necessary for legal, safety, fraud-prevention, reporting, tax, accounting or dispute purposes.
Connection room records, messages, acceptance records and Platform Connection Fee records are retained while needed to operate the platform, support reports, evidence agreed terms, manage payment-fee records and comply with legal or accounting obligations.
Verification documents are normally retained for three months after review. Contact form messages are retained for as long as needed to respond and manage the enquiry. Report records are retained for as long as needed to investigate, evidence decisions and protect platform safety.
Where a legal claim, complaint, chargeback, report, regulatory issue or safety concern is active or reasonably anticipated, relevant records may be retained for longer.
12. Data-subject rights
Subject to applicable law and any relevant exemptions, individuals may have rights to access their personal data, request correction, request erasure, restrict processing, object to processing, request portability and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
Rights requests should be sent to info@silver-skill.com. Silver Skills may request information necessary to confirm identity before acting on a request.
Some rights may be limited where Silver Skills needs to retain information for legal obligations, contract performance, report handling, dispute evidence, fraud prevention, safety, rights of other users or establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
13. Security
Silver Skills should use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including restricted admin access, access controls, secure deletion procedures, audit records, provider controls and private handling of verification documents.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. Users should use strong passwords, keep login details confidential and avoid sharing sensitive job or identity details outside appropriate platform channels.
14. Cookies, analytics and spam protection
Silver Skills may use essential cookies or similar technologies needed for security, authentication and platform operation. If non-essential analytics or marketing cookies are introduced, Silver Skills should provide appropriate notice and consent controls.
Contact and signup forms may use spam-prevention measures such as honeypot fields, challenge questions, Cloudflare Turnstile, IP signals and server-side validation.
15. Children's data
Silver Skills is intended for adults aged 18 or over. The platform is not intended for children. If Silver Skills becomes aware that a child has provided personal data through an account or application, Silver Skills may delete or restrict the relevant account and information.
16. Complaints
Individuals may contact Silver Skills at info@silver-skill.com about privacy concerns. Individuals also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.
The Data Protection Commission website is www.dataprotection.ie.
17. Changes to this policy
Silver Skills may update this Privacy Policy as the platform, legal requirements, service providers or processing activities change. Material changes should be communicated by website notice, platform notice or email where appropriate.
