Terms & Conditions

Formal launch draft for Silver Skills. This should be reviewed by an Irish solicitor before accepting live payments or onboarding live users.

1. Parties, status and acceptance

These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of the Silver Skills website, platform, customer portal, Skilled Member portal, owner backend workflows, connection request system, messaging tools and any related services made available by Silver Skills at www.silver-skill.com or any replacement domain.

In these Terms, "Silver Skills", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the operator of the Silver Skills platform. "Customer" means a person who browses Skilled Member profiles, creates a customer account, sends a connection request or uses a connection room. "Skilled Member" means a person who applies to provide small practical services through the platform or whose profile is approved by Silver Skills. "User" means any Customer, Skilled Member or other person using the platform.

By accessing the platform, creating an account, submitting a profile, sending a connection request, paying a Platform Connection Fee, using a connection room or otherwise using Silver Skills, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the platform.

2. Nature of the platform

Silver Skills is an online directory, introduction and connection platform for small practical jobs. Silver Skills helps Customers identify and contact approved Skilled Members and provides a private connection room in which the Customer and Skilled Member can discuss and record job details.

Silver Skills is not a party to the separate arrangement for the actual work agreed between a Customer and a Skilled Member. Silver Skills does not employ Skilled Members, does not supervise or direct the work, does not inspect work, does not certify trade competence, does not provide insurance for the work, does not guarantee payment for the work and does not act as a debt collector, adjudicator, mediator, regulator, building inspector or court.

Any contract or arrangement for the actual job, including job scope, date, time, materials, access, price and payment method, is made directly between the Customer and the Skilled Member.

3. Eligibility and account security

Users must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding arrangements. Silver Skills may refuse registration, suspend access or request further information where age, identity, contactability, safety or suitability cannot be reasonably established.

Users must provide true, accurate, current and complete information. You must not create an account using false details, impersonate another person, hide your identity, misrepresent experience or qualifications, or use the platform for fraudulent, unlawful, unsafe or abusive purposes.

You are responsible for keeping account login details confidential and for all activity under your account. You must notify Silver Skills promptly if you suspect unauthorised access, misuse or a security issue.

4. Customer obligations

Customers must describe requested work honestly, accurately and sufficiently for a Skilled Member to decide whether the work is suitable. Customers must not request emergency, safety-critical, unlawful, high-risk or regulated work through the platform.

Customers must provide safe access to the job location, treat Skilled Members respectfully, avoid harassment or pressure, and ensure that any agreed job payment is made directly to the Skilled Member in accordance with the agreed terms between them.

Customers must not use reports, reviews, chargeback threats or platform complaints as leverage to obtain free work, reduced pricing or outcomes not agreed with the Skilled Member.

5. Skilled Member obligations

Skilled Members must provide accurate profile, experience, service-area, contact and verification information. Skilled Members must not misrepresent skills, qualifications, insurance, availability, identity, location or ability to carry out work safely.

Skilled Members must only accept work they are competent, willing and legally permitted to perform. Skilled Members must not accept unsafe, unlawful, high-risk, emergency or regulated work unless they are properly qualified, insured and legally permitted to do so, and unless the platform policy permits that category.

Skilled Members must agree job details and pricing clearly before work starts, must not demand large upfront cash payments, must communicate respectfully and must comply with the Silver Skills code of conduct and category restrictions.

6. Profile approval, verification and visibility

Skilled Member profiles are not public until reviewed and approved by Silver Skills. Silver Skills may request identity, address, contact, experience, category, availability and safety information before approval.

Silver Skills may approve, reject, pause, hide, suspend, remove or request changes to any profile at its discretion where information is incomplete, inaccurate, misleading, unsafe, unsuitable, unverifiable, outside platform scope or otherwise inconsistent with these Terms.

Approved public profiles may show a display name, profile photo, approximate service area, availability, categories, profile text, rating, reviews and a verified badge. Exact home address, private postal code, full legal name, date of birth, phone number, email address and verification documents are not shown publicly.

7. Permitted and prohibited work

Silver Skills is intended for ordinary small practical jobs, including minor repairs, basic maintenance, furniture assembly, shelving, wall mounting, gates, fences, garden tidy-ups, touch-up painting, pressure washing and similar non-regulated work.

The platform is not intended for emergencies, urgent safety-critical repairs, gas work, major electrical work, roofing, structural building work, chimney work, asbestos work, major plumbing, large paving or tarmac jobs, significant building works or any other work Silver Skills considers unsafe, unsuitable, regulated or outside platform scope.

Silver Skills may update permitted and prohibited categories at any time for legal, safety, operational or platform-quality reasons.

8. Connection request tiers and Platform Connection Fee

Customers choose a connection request tier before sending a request. The current tiers are Standard, Urgent and Priority. The tier reflects how the Customer wants the request handled; it does not oblige a Skilled Member to accept the request.

Skilled Members review each request on its details and may accept or decline it. If the request is declined, the Customer does not pay the Platform Connection Fee for that request.

The applicable Platform Connection Fee is shown before the request is sent and is payable only after a Skilled Member accepts the request. The fee opens the connection room and enables the Customer and Skilled Member to communicate and agree the job directly.

The Platform Connection Fee is not payment for the actual work. Silver Skills does not collect, hold, release, guarantee, refund or recover payment for the actual job. Higher tiers affect request handling only and do not guarantee acceptance, timing, attendance, price, workmanship, completion, suitability or outcome.

9. Cancellation, withdrawal and refunds

Consumer rights may apply to online purchases of digital services. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under Irish or EU consumer law.

Where a Customer asks Silver Skills to open a connection room immediately after a Skilled Member accepts the request, the Customer acknowledges that Silver Skills begins providing the digital connection service once the Platform Connection Fee is paid.

Once the connection room has opened, the Platform Connection Fee is generally non-refundable, except where required by law or where Silver Skills chooses, at its discretion, to issue a goodwill credit or refund. Any goodwill credit or refund does not mean Silver Skills accepts liability for the job or for either party's conduct.

10. Connection rooms, messages and agreed terms

A connection room may be used to exchange messages, clarify scope, record job price, payment method, date, time, access details, materials and any other relevant job terms. Users should keep communications on-platform until the key job details are agreed.

Where the platform provides acceptance controls, both parties should accept the latest version of the job terms before work takes place. If material terms change, such as scope, price, date, payment method or access details, both parties should re-confirm the updated terms.

Silver Skills may access connection room records where necessary for support, safety, moderation, payment-fee records, report review, legal compliance, fraud prevention or account enforcement.

11. Direct job payment

The Customer and Skilled Member are solely responsible for agreeing and completing payment for the actual job. Silver Skills does not process actual job payments and does not guarantee that a Customer will pay or that a Skilled Member will complete work.

Where a non-payment report is raised, Silver Skills may review platform records and may take account action, but Silver Skills is not a debt collection service and does not promise to recover payment, compensate either party or resolve the underlying civil dispute.

12. Reports, evidence and moderation

Users may submit reports about platform conduct, safety concerns, misleading information, non-attendance, refusal to pay, abusive behaviour, inappropriate pressure, suspected fraud, misuse of reviews or other issues.

Silver Skills may review reports, messages, accepted terms, account records, profile information, payment-fee records, uploaded evidence and relevant history. Silver Skills may request further information from either party.

Silver Skills may take action including no action, internal note, warning, restriction, profile hiding, account suspension, account removal, review removal, goodwill credit, goodwill refund, report closure or referral to appropriate authorities where necessary. A report does not guarantee any particular outcome.

13. Reviews and ratings

Reviews, if enabled, must be honest, based on a genuine connection and not abusive, discriminatory, threatening, misleading, defamatory or posted for leverage.

Silver Skills may moderate, hide or remove reviews where they breach these Terms, relate to unverified connections, contain private information, are abusive or appear manipulated.

14. Prohibited platform conduct

Users must not misuse the platform, scrape data, attempt unauthorised access, bypass security controls, upload malware, submit spam, harass others, discriminate unlawfully, threaten chargebacks or reports in bad faith, solicit banned work, avoid platform safeguards or use the platform for unlawful purposes.

Users must not publish or share another person's private address, phone number, email address, identity documents, postal code, access details or other private information except where necessary inside a legitimate connection room.

15. Suspension and termination

Silver Skills may suspend, restrict, hide, remove or terminate access to the platform at any time where it reasonably believes these Terms have been breached, information is false or incomplete, safety is at risk, verification has failed, reports indicate misuse, legal obligations require action or continued access would harm the platform or other users.

Users may stop using the platform at any time. Certain records may be retained after account closure where necessary for legal, tax, dispute, safety, fraud-prevention or legitimate business purposes.

16. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Silver Skills provides the platform on an "as is" and "as available" basis and does not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, available at all times or free from misuse by third parties.

Silver Skills is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, non-payment, poor workmanship, delay, cancellation, property damage, indirect loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity or consequential loss arising from the separate arrangement between a Customer and a Skilled Member, except to the extent liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

17. Intellectual property

The Silver Skills name, branding, website content, platform design, copy, graphics, software and related materials are owned by or licensed to Silver Skills. Users may not copy, reproduce, adapt, scrape, commercially exploit or misuse platform materials without permission.

Users grant Silver Skills a licence to use submitted profile content, photos, messages, reports and other materials as necessary to operate, moderate, evidence, display and improve the platform, subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

18. Changes to these Terms

Silver Skills may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes should be notified by appropriate platform notice, email or website update. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

19. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Subject to any mandatory consumer rights, the courts of Ireland shall have jurisdiction in relation to disputes concerning these Terms or the platform.

20. Contact

Questions about these Terms may be sent to info@silver-skill.com. Legal notices should clearly identify the sender, account email, issue and relevant connection or report reference where applicable.
